For Dilute Solution Viscosity, Viscotek takes pride in being the only manufacturer capable of supplying you with a comprehensive system solution, regardless of your viscosity testing requirements.

Application Notes
Our database of GPC/SEC application notes explain the use of concentration, viscometer and light scattering detectors to obtain a distribution of absolute molecular weight, size and intrinsic viscosity, as well as information on conformation, aggregation, branching and copolymer characterization.

Nanoparticle and Protein Sizing
Viscotek is proud to introduce its range of Dynamic Light Scattering Detectors featuring rapid, accurate and sensitive sizing for proteins, biomolecules, nanoparticles & polymers and a pair of outstanding technologies unique to Viscotek.

Tetra Detector Array
A revolutionary, integrated multiple-detector device designed for the characterization of natural and synthetic polymers and copolymers, proteins, protein conjugates, excipients and other macromolecules. Comprised of modular Refractive Index, Ultra-Violet, Low Angle Light Scattering and Viscometer detectors.
4 Capillary Viscometer Detector
4 Capillary Viscometer Detector
The Viscotek 4 capillary viscometer provides a direct measurement of intrinsic viscosityViscotek's patented 4 capillary viscometer provides a direct measurement of intrinsic viscosity and allows for the determination of molecular size, conformation and structure.

Dr. Max Haney - President of Viscotek Corp. - is the inventor of the four capillary viscometer detector. Viscotek remain the world-wide leaders in 4 capillary viscometer design.

Dr. Max Haney's 4 capillary viscometer provides a direct measurement of intrinsic viscosityPatented 4 capillary, differential Wheatstone bridge configuration.
  • Bridge Volume: 72 microliters
  • Maximum Flow Rate: 1.5 ml/min (H2O); 3.0 ml/min (THF)
  • DP Noise Maximum: 0.7 millivolts
  • DP Noise Typical: 0.5 millivolts
  • DP Drift Typical: 3.0 millivolts/hour
  • Sensitivity: 2.0 x 10–5 Specific Viscosity
  • Transducer Linearity: 1%
  • Shear Rate: 3000 sec–1

In 1982 Max Haney conceived the 4 capillary viscometer and asked a friend to conduct a market survey. Twenty leading GPC chromatographers were asked if they had need of a viscometer detector. All 20 said no. Max founded Viscotek anyway and discovered what inventors through the ages have known: A good invention creates its own market. This is the guiding philosophy of our founder and is ingrained in the corporate culture.
